I am the Consultant and Coach for busy leaders, managers, and business owners who are looking to improve their Teams!

As leaders, we almost instinctively sense when our Team is capable of more than they're doing. Sometimes we've literally witnessed a drop in productivity, morale, or profitability. Other times we just KNOW that we could be doing better - operating more efficiently - working better together, producing a superior result or just plain experiencing more "happy" in our work day!

From personal experience, I can tell you what won't work...

The answer is simple - managing people is a RELATIONSHIP. I know that those of us who lean towards relying on numbers and data (and numbers and data ARE important) may feel uneasy about admitting that relationships are important - but they are not only important  - they are EVERYTHING in today's management / HR world. 

Figure out how to form a FUNCTIONAL relationship with your Team members, leverage that relationship to gain insights, shape your organization from the insights you learned and BOOM! - You have something dynamic, perpetual and inaccessible by your competitors!
Don't be mislead by coaches and consultants pushing formulaic HR and Engagement solutions. 
Often I see interactions in Leadership and Employee Engagement groups where a manager or HR leader is literally asking the group on FaceBook for ideas on employee engagement, or team building or recruiting insight. 

The reality is that the only answers to those questions that matter are the answers which would come from that leaders
OWN TEAM. This is like asking someone else's spouse or significant other to tell you what they like so that you can give it to YOUR spouse or significant other to try to please them!!

NO ONE would EVER recommend that!

In fact, many managers assume that their team IS performing at peak UNTIL they witness the transformation. To be clear here, this transformation  has to do with organizational HEALTH. NOT pay (though you must pay equitably) not benefits (though they  can be very important), it has to do with how your team FEELS about their company and their work!

The bottom line here is that teams are comprised of humans. Humans are a VERY complex species and ANY attempt to create a strong group result has to take into account the very human-ness that makes the result possible! 

Your team CAN DO absolutely AMAZING things. Things you may not even have dreamt yet, but they won’t automatically do those AMAZING things JUST because you pay them to work for your organization. 

Your Team will ONLY reach maximum potential if they are led to that potential, compensated appropriately, and given a culture to call their own.
